Copywriter Internship Description

As a Copywriter Intern, you will work as part of the Creative Department to help create real-life

marketing campaigns for large brand name clients like MetLife, AARP, PNC Bank and others.

You will be mentored by a senior creative and given the opportunity to contribute to the

development of actual marketing campaigns. In addition to providing research and support,

you’ll also be given the opportunity to brainstorm concepts and write ad copy in a variety of

mediums. Upon completion of the internship, remote work throughout the academic year is

available on a case-by-case basis.

•Complete the Merkle training program to become familiar with our systems

•Receive one-on-one mentorship from a senior Merkle copywriter/Creative Director

•Work as part of a team with art directors, account people, media people, and a Creative

Director in brainstorming and executing concepts

•Participate in the weekly “ink&bit” creative forum

•Learn and implement best practices for Facebook, emails, direct mail, and more

•Embrace a culture based on teamwork, collaboration, and a desire to do great work

•Ability to balance high-quality standards with schedule pressures

•Take part in a 4 week Creative Challenge where you write a strategy, develop a creative

campaign for a real client and have the opportunity to be mentioned in the company

wide Shout Out report

Requirements:

•Must be a rising senior with strong grades both in the major and overall

•A strong portfolio of writing samples

•Excellent people and computer skills

•Must be hard-working and eager to learn

•Must be able to work as part of a team, write clear emails, and be friendly and patient

•Must be well-versed in Microsoft Word

•Must be interested in learning the ins and outs of the ever-evolving world of direct

marketing, both online and off

This is a paid 10-week internship from June through August located at Merkle headquarters in

Columbia, Maryland
