Wicomico HOPE is a local non profit organization whose name stands for "Helping Other People Everyday". Our mission is to assist children, vulnerable adults and families in crisis in Wicomico County for whom there are limited resources of funding to meet a bona fide need or emergency situation. Raising the visibility of our organization and the work we do is vital to increasing our fundraising abilities. For that reason, we are seeking a Social Media and Publicity Officer to join our board as a special officer tasked with this particular purpose. Specific Duties of Social Media Officer: Update the Wicomico Hope Facebook page to publicize statistics and information about families served in the area, as well as upcoming fundraisers. Information about grants distributed and families served is provided each month by the Department of Social Services at our monthly meetings. Example: Create posts announcing the winners of raffle ticket fundraisers, wishing happy holidays to community members, and providing (confidential) examples of families served. Use social media to maintain visibility with like minded organizations and individuals in the community. Example: Seeking out and liking posts related to community involvement, social justice, charity, etc. Provide insight to our Board about publicity and raising awareness in the community of the Organization and the population it serves. Wicomico HOPE board meetings take place January-October at the Department of Social Services, 201 Baptist St #27, Salisbury, MD 21801, at 3:30 pm on the 4th Tuesday of every month. The Social Media Officer isn't required to attend these meetings, although participation and interest in the organization generally is encouraged as frequently as is convenient to his or her schedule. If the officer won't be able to attend meetings, board members will maintain contact to provide information for social media content.
